Are you embarking on a new exerciseregime? Make sure an injury doesn't hold you back from reaching your health andfitness goals. Sports injuries are a common problem for people of all ages andfitness levels. From a swollen knee to stiff joints to a sprained ankle, hereare some tips to keep in mind to prevent injuries.
Know what you're doing
Before you start any exercise plan, make sure you know what you're doing. Make an appointment to see an expert whocan advise you on if the exercise program you're about to do is going to helpyou and injure you. They should be able to teach you or advise you on how to dothe actual exercises.
Start slowly
If your goal is to lose weight or arerecovering from an injury, take it easy. HIIT training or even weight trainingmay not be best suited for everybody so seek advice on what is best for yourbody type.
Listen to your body
Exercising can be uncomfortable but it should never be painful. If something does feel painful, stop immediately. Our bodies are very sensitive and it's telling you that it needs some attention.
Take rest days
It's important to rest and recover, and exercising every day is not always healthy for the body. Be sure to planyour rest days and incorporate gentle exercise into your day, such as a walkaround the park.
Sleep it off
Sleep is as important as your diet andexercise plan. Our muscles repair when we sleep, and that is particularlyneeded when we are working on getting fitter and stronger. Poor sleepingpatterns can lead to poor results in the gym and then injury.
