Get Through Flu Season with These Tips
The dreaded flu season is upon us, and that means that there will be coughs, sneezes, and sniffles. Catching a cold or the flu is never fun, but getting ill around the festive season is not ideal. Flu season runs from October until spring, so there's still plenty of time to catch something nasty. To keep germs at bay and avoid getting the flu, take a look at these survival strategies.
Wash your hands. A lot. Use warm water and soap to remove harmful germs from your hands. Get into the habit of washing your hands before you eat, drink, and before touching your face. If you're in a pinch, alcohol-based hand sanitizer works well, too.
Tweak your diet. Eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables is essential to maintaining good health, but even more so when you're trying to avoid catching a cold. Fill up on immune-boosting foods like garlic, strawberries, blueberries, mushrooms, and herbal tea.
Get plenty of sleep. Sleep is a cornerstone of a healthy immune system. Adults should get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep every night. If you're not, you could be hurting your immune system and making yourself more susceptible to catching a cold or the flu.
Sweat it outExercise can help you fight off the flu. Regular moderate exercise could cut respiratory infections by one third. Whether you hit the gym or take a new exercise class, workout to stay flu-free.
RestIf you do succumb to a cold or the flu, the best thing you can do for yourself (and office) is to stay home and rest. Resting will allow your body to fight off the virus much quicker. We hope that you manage to stay flu-free this season! For all of your personal and commercial insurance needs,
