Show the veteran community how much you care.
November 11
th is Veterans Day. In honor of this national holiday, take a moment to reflect on the brave service of members of the United States Armed Forces. This Veterans Day, make an effort to show the veteran community how much you care; here are some suggestions you should try.
DonateOne of the easiest ways to get involved this Veterans Day is by donating to organizations that provide services and support to the veteran community. For instance, charities such as
Operation Gratitude accept donations of goods that they then use to make care packages for veterans. Additionally, there are many other charities that are deserving of your financial donations. For instance:
DAV (Disabled American Veterans),
Homes for Our Troops, and
Wounded Warrior Project are just a few organizations worthy of your financial backing.
Attend an EventAnother easy way to show your support is by attending one of the many parades, fundraisers, and other events that are held in honor of Veterans Day. Gather your friends and family and make an effort to come out and support the veteran community. While your attendance might seem insignificant, simply showing up will show our veterans that you're thinking about them and that you care.
WriteFinally, a more hands-on way to get involved this Veterans Day is by writing letters to the veteran community. In your letters thanks the veteran community for their brave service and selfless sacrifices. This is a great activity to do with your whole family €”even the kids can get involved by drawing pictures and decorating each letter that the adults write. Once all the letters are complete, send them to the nearest military or VA (Veterans Affairs) installation for them to distribute. This Veterans Day, your sincere words of thanks will let our veterans know that they are appreciated. This Veterans Day, try out these suggestions to show the veteran community how much you care.
