Prepare the Kids for a New School Year
The long days of summer are behind us, which means kids are getting ready to go back to school. If your children have been enjoying late nights and sleeping in every morning, the early wakeup call on the first day back to school can be a rude awakening. To help prepare your kids (and yourself!) for the school routine, check out these tips.
Start before schoolAs soon as possible, get your kids back into the routine of waking up early and going to sleep at a decent hour. Ideally, you should start this around two weeks before school so that getting up early for the first day back is already part of routine.
Set them up with suppliesTake a look at your child's supplies and new school schedule. Have they grown out of their sports shoes? Do they need new pens and notebooks? Is their water bottle falling to pieces? Prep your child's backpack and supplies well before the new school year so that they are set up for success.
Feed their healthStart off the mornings with a healthy and filling breakfast that will keep your kids going until lunchtime. In the summer, your children may have gotten away with eating pastries for breakfast at 11 am, but a new school year means that they need the right foods to fuel their day. Whip up some oatmeal with almond milk and fresh berries or multigrain toast with peanut butter and a piece of fruit. We hope these tips help you and your children get back into the routine of a new school year.
