Helpful Tips to Alleviate Stress
Feeling stressed out? You're not alone. It's normal to feel stressed, burned out, and exhausted sometimes. While a little bit of stress can be good for us and allow us to reach new heights, chronic stress can have a damaging impact on our overall health. Meditation or medication may not work for everyone, which is why we've rounded up some science-backed ways you can feel less stressed.
Get in a good workoutWe all know the benefits of exercising regularly, but you can add stress-busting to that long list. Sweat sessions trigger endorphin release, which helps us to feel happier and reduce stress. Not to mention the fact that focusing on a workout distracts us from daily stress.
Listen to soothing soundsResearchers found that mechanical noises, traffic, airplane noise, and other man-made sounds produce stress. If you're exposed to these sounds frequently, it can raise blood pressure and cause a low-grade stress response. Relaxing music, such as classical music, smooth jazz, and nature sounds can help you feel calmer.
Watch what you put in your bodyAlthough the season of cookies and pumpkin pie is here, a lot of this holiday food won't help your stress. Although these treats can feel great in the moment, they aren't what your body needs, which means you can end up feeling sluggish and unhappy. Instead, eat healthy, whole foods such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and remember to drink lots of water, too.
Get out into natureIf you're feeling flustered, it may be time to stop and smell the roses. Get outside, breathe in the fresh air, and take a stroll around the park. It'll not only keep you physically active, but it'll help comfort your mind as well.
Help othersWhen you're feeling stressed, putting others ahead of yourself is probably the last thing on your mind. However, if you can connect with others and give back to the community, it's likely to trigger feelings of appreciation and community spirit. Volunteering at an animal shelter or soup kitchen help to put your problems into perspective. How do you effectively manage stress? Let us know! For all of your insurance needs this season,
